Prague is the capital of Czech Republic, the fifteenth-largest city in Europe, and has living history of over 1,000 years. Its cultural and historical architectures plus the great food, wine and beer creates a romantic atmosphere.
Whenever I arrive one city, I would love to tour the city by foot for the first day. It doesn’t really need any destination or direction. I love to wander around and randomly run into spots I saw on the books or internet. Sometimes, you would be amazed how close some of the attractions are in walking distance.
One thing you would definitely not want to miss out is the night of Prague.
Walking along the Vltava river and the famous Charles bridge to watch the city change color to the golden city is just amazing.
The crowds on the Charles Bridge.
On one side of the Charles Bridge, there is a shopping street full of restaurants and bars.
Also, right at the end of bridge, you would see this huge cinnamon roll-like sign of a small bakery. They make fresh “Trdlo,” a local snack, which tastes like bread sticks/ rolls dipped in sugar.
It’s not too sweet and warm. Freshly made from this rolling oven. Must try~~
On the other end of Charles Bridge, connects to the famous Old Town Square.
There are always little shops and street foods around the old town square. We visited around Christmas time which makes the market more seasonal and festive!!
The lights and the golden trees are gorgeous.
The Prague Astronomical Clock. It’s really amazing how it is delicated designed and made.
Every hour, hundreds of tourists from all over the world with cameras at the ready gather in front of the Old Town Hall to enjoy a fascinating mechanical performance which in the Middle Ages was considered one of the wonders of the world. The Prague Astronomical Clock, which for 600 years has been one of the greatest treasures of the city, still amazes people with its procession of Apostles, moving statues and visualization of time like no other instrument in the world.
It was too bad we didn’t get the chance to watch an o’clock show this time… Oh well, you would always find something left out for your next visit. That’s the beauty of travel, isn’t it?
And of course, don’t forget to try out at least one or two of the local street food and drinks!!!
The roast ham and hot wine is perfect for the cold winter.
